"Take
photographs, leave footprints, take time" (G.A.P. promotes
conservation)
We have teamed
up with one of the world leaders in adventure tourism - G.A.P
Adventures Limited of Toronto, Ontario, Canada to bring our customers
the Ultimate vacations of a lifetime.
If you are looking
for something different, cultural, spiritual, exotic, exciting
or stimulating, G.A.P. offers adventure travel anywhere around
the world.
To assist you
in determining the adventure that best suits you or your group,
GAP has rated their adventure travel packages by three categories:
soft,
medium, or hard.
Soft
adventure
can be experienced anywhere in the world. Typically, a group size
is approximately 12 - can be larger but a minimum is 3 - with
one tour leader and one driver. A single supplement is charged
for singles on several types of trips. Transportation is by motor
coach, mini vans, trains, boats, ferries, walking, cycling. Accommodation
can be three star hotels, B&Bs, lodges. Most meals are provided,
with an opportunity to try local cuisine. Depending on what country
you are visiting, personal hygiene is western or oriental. The
pace is structured according to sight-seeing schedule with sight
seeing being mostly major areas using main roads. Physically:
trips are graded but are usually fairly easy walks through parks,
valleys and canyons - mostly day trips. Mentally: this is a leisure
experience. Participation level is mostly leisure. You take comfortable
clothes and one casual dress item.
Medium
adventure
can be experienced anywhere in the world. A group for this type
of adventure is usually approx 12 - no more than 15. No single
supplement, singles will be matched with traveller of same sex.
There would be one Western guide and many local guides. Transportation
would be private and local bus, train, canoe, elephant, rickshaw,
hiking, cycling. Accommodation can be haciendas, lodges, villas,
village cabanas, tents with beds, old palaces, yachts, etc. Some
meals provided with some opportunity to try local cuisine. Personal
hygiene can be western but you will experience bushes, squat toilet,
out-houses. The pace has some structure - times are respected
for transport - more free time for personal exploration. Physically:
all tours are graded but degree of difficulty increases due to
more remote areas. Mentally: leisurely with some challenges. Tours
start in major cities then quickly go off the beaten track to
country roads and rivers. Participation level ranges from occasionally
carrying bags to helping with cooking duties. You should take
comfortable, practical clothes - limited laundry facilities.
Hard
adventure
can be experienced in Africa, Asia, South & Central America. Average
group is 15, with maximum of 20. No single supplement, singles
are matched with traveller of same sex. Usually there is one leader,
one cook, one driver. Transportation is large overland and small
Landrover vehicles, trekking, cycling. Accommodation is mostly
camping (self-erected tents), lodges, some hotels at beginning
and end of trip. All meals are provided due to remoteness of destination
- food kitty cost additional at times. Personal hygiene is toilet
tent, squat tent, no running water, bush, western toilets at start
and end of trip. The tour is structured; however, very flexible
due to nature of trip - reaching destination is the goal. Physically:
you should be physically fit and trips are always graded - difficult
to expeditionary in remote areas. Mentally: be prepared for physical
and cultural challenges. Tours start in major cities, then go
completely off beaten track - savannas, deserts, jungles, mountains.
Participation is greater here - cooking, kitchen duties, cleaning,
carry bags. You should take comfortable, practical clothes - limited
laundry facilities.
