Letter

Dear
Parents of Kingswood Students:
This letter is written
as a result of the decision of the Board at last night's meeting
to suspend the boundary review process and to accept a recommendation
for a temporary placement of students from the eastern portion
of Kingswood subdivision, Blue Mountain and Kearney Lake Estates
(please see below for a list of affected streets) at Ecole Rockingham
for the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 school years. In the first year,
this move will involve students in Primary to Grade Five; in the
second year incoming primaries will be added and the Grade Six
class will remain. The Grade Five French immersion lead class
in September 2003 will attend Madeline Symonds Middle School although
students from this class can apply to attend Ecole Rockingham
as out of area students. Included with this letter is the report
that went to the Board last night.
I can assure you the
students will receive a quality education in their new placement.
Furthermore, the students will be considered part of the school
population of Hammonds Plains and Madeline Symonds for consideration
in the review of the boundary for the new school announced by
the Department of Education and scheduled to open in September
2005.
A site selection committee
will be formed to identify three potential sites for the new school,
and following the decision of the Department of Education on the
location of the new school, a boundary review committee will be
struck.
Soon, transition team
meetings will be scheduled with the staff of Ecole Rockingham
and representative parents of the students affected by the move.
These meetings will allow the relocation of students to take place
with minimum disruption.

Arbour Way, Bell Street, Black Duck, Blue Mountain, Blue Forest,
Collins
Road, Dianna Drive, Evergreen, Grandview Court, Kearney Lake Road
(that
portion of which is now within the Hammonds Plains Consolidated
Elementary
School boundary), Kingswood Boulevard up to and including #177
(the corner
of Hanah Elise Drive, but not including Hanah Elise Drive), Lake
Shore
Drive, Lake Mist Drive, Lewis Lake Terrace, Lisa Court, Long Lake
Drive,
Royal Oaks, Terradore Lane, Shannonvale.
