Annual
General Meeting Update
Posted
Tuesday, May 6th, 2003
The Annual
general Meeting was a great success. We had a large turnout to
hear Premier John Hamm to address the crowd as well as School
Board representatives present to answer questions. Many residents
made their feelings known - loud and clear. Local MLA Barry Barnett
was also on hand for the entire meeting.
Also during
the meeting, motions were put forward on parkland development.
The first motion was on what direction to take and the second
one was whether the area rate should be extended for one more
year. Good discussion was held on this topic with all concerns
addressed. In particular, the Parks Committee made sure to address
any concerns of residents in close proximity to the planned development.
Both motions passed with an overwhelming majority (with only a
handful of dissenting votes). The parks plan to be implemented
is essentially the same as outlined in the December 2002 issue
of the Kingswood Courier and described in detail on the parks
page of this website.
The Association
has four new Board members bringing our total to 20. This size
of Board helps to ensure all areas of the community are represented.
We are always eager to have additional volunteers for committee
work - feel free to contact us if you would like to volunteer
- the summer BBQ comes to mind.
For 2003 we
will remain focused on parks and schools and do our best to represent
the interest of all the residents of Kingswood.
I would like
to thank all those people who volunteered to make this past year
a success, whether as a member of the Board or a part of a committee.
I would
like to say an extra special thanks to all those involved in the
schooling issue - this was a monumentous task - evenings, weekends,
and it is still ongoing. We are working hard for the benefit of
our entire community and we will endeavour to keep everyone updated
on the progress.

information on the meeting, please refer to attached
draft minutes.
