Open
Air Burning Ban
The Halifax
Regional Council is trying to pass new By-Law O-102 banning Open Air
Fires in Kingswood and surrounding neighborhoods.
The main focus
of the ban appears to be related to making Kingswood conform to the
"Green City" initiatives and residential health and Safety.
The By-law does not appear to take into account the yearly property
cleanup and disposal requirements for our spring yard clean up and
fallen tree removal.
MAKE
YOUR VOICE HEARD (PRO OR CON)
To voice your
opinion regarding the proposed by-law banning open air fires,
Councilor Reg Rankin has suggested sending a note to the clerk's
office for distribution to council. The address is clerks@region.halifax.ns.ca.

UP AT THE PUBLIC HEARING
There will be
a Public
Meeting held on May 6, 2003 by the Halifax Regional City
Council to allow residents and businesses an opportunity to voice
their concerns and issues prior to the final vote on accepting the By-Law.

THE
KINGSWOOD RATEPAYERS ASSOCIATION STAND
The Kingswood
Ratepayers Association neither supports or opposes the ban on open
air fires as the community response has been mixed on the issue. The
Board encourages the residents to form their own opinions and send
e-mail to the councilors at the address mentioned above to let their
concerns be known. |
